35th Congress of the Panamerican Trauma Society &
35th Congress of the Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões, &
15th Congresso da SBAIT
Dear Members of Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões (CBC), Panamerican Trauma Society (PTS), and Sociedade Brasileira de Atendimento Integrado ao Traumatizado (SBAIT),
The Presidents of CBC, PTS, and SBAIT (Dr. Luiz Carlos Von Bahten, Dr. Esteban Foianini, and Dr. Mauricio Godinho), accompanied by Dr. Pedro Eder Portari Filho, Dr. Pablo Ottolino, and Dr. Jose Gustavo Parreira held their first joint meeting on Saturday, January 21.
During the meeting, we discussed the goals and visions for the upcoming 35th Congress of the Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões, 35th Congress of the Panamerican Trauma Society, and 15th Congresso da SBAIT to be held from July 27 to 30, 2023, in Florianopolis, Brazil.
The meeting was conducted in a friendly and cordial fashion, and it was apparent that our goals and visions were aligned. We intend to have a Congress of the highest academic standards, which will benefit all our members. The focus of the meeting will be to cover the spectrum of General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Trauma Management. The conference will be geared toward Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics (pre-Hospital), and Medical Students.
We are organizing conferences with the combined participation of members from the three Societies. We plan to have joint sessions between Physicians, Nurses, and Paramedics (pre-Hospital).
We currently have a representative from the PTS Nursing Committee within the Program Committee. Nursing is a pivotal component in the Care of the Injured Patient, and our Nursing colleagues are a critical element of the Panamerican Trauma Society. We want to ensure that the content provided during the Congress is relevant to our Nursing colleagues and deem that their participation is critical to the success of the meeting.
The same can be stated of professionals who participate in pre-hospital care. A program aimed at this group is also being developed with the participation of representatives from this area.
We will have a robust Medical Student program and expect extensive participation from Medical Students from Brazil, Latin America, and North America. The program is being created by the Medical Students participating in the PTS Student Committee with the assistance of Senior Surgeons. This committee currently has medical students from the Trauma Leagues from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and the United States. If other Trauma Leagues or Medical Student associations want to participate, they can contact Dr. Foianini or Dr. Pust through the PTS.
We will have two portals for Registration. One will be conducted through the CBC webpage geared to CBC members, SBAIT members, Brazilian physicians, and Brazilian Medical Students. The other portal will be through the PTS webpage and is intended for all PTS members, physicians, nurses, paramedics, and students residing outside of Brazil. Nurses and Paramedics living in Brazil will also register through the PTS webpage. Once we have opened the Registration page, we will communicate the information to all our members.
We look forward to seeing all of you in Florianopolis!
