Instructions for authors

- Manuscript. The original typescript and two high-quality copies of all illustrations, legends, tables and references must be submitted. All copy, including references, must be typed double-spaced on 21 x 27 cm, heavy-duty white bond paper. Margins must be at least 1 inch. A computer diskette containing a file of the article must be included. Files in Word either for IBM-compatible or Apple are preferred. The diskette should be labeled with the author's names, the title of the article, the type of computer, and the word processing software used.
- Title. The title must be short, specific and clear. It cannot exceed 45 characters per line, and is limited to two lines. The title page should include full names, and academic affiliations of all author. Foot notes indicating where the works was done, where orders for reprints should be addressed and those contributing grants for the work should be given at the bottom of the second page. If the manuscript was presented at a meeting, indicate the name of the organization, the place and the date on which it was read.
- Illustrations. Please send three complete sets of high contrast glossy prints. Figure number, name of senior author, and arrow indicating top should be typed on a gummed label and affixed to the back of each illustration. Cost of color figures, where used, is borne by authors.
- Summary. A summary of 150 words or less should be submitted in English and Spanish. The summary must include a statement of the problem, methods of study, results and conclusions. A list of key words to be used for indexing should appear at the end of the summary.
- References. References should be listed in consecutive numerical order as they are cited in the text. Once a reference is cited, all subsequent citations should be to the original number. All references must be cited in the text or tables. References to journal articles should include: authors, title, journal name as abbreviated in Index Medicus, year, volume number, and inclusive page numbers in that order. References to books should include: authors, chapter title, if any; editor if any; title of book; year; city and publisher. Volume and edition numbers, specific pages, and name of translator should be included when appropriate. The author is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the references and for their correct text citation.
- Originally & copyright. Manuscripts and illustrations submitted for consideration should not have been published elsewhere except for such preliminary material presented to the Panamerican Trauma Society.
